Terms of Service

Terms and Conditions for the official ChessIQ service

These Terms of Service and Terms and Conditions govern the official ChessIQ service operated by QILA Modus, including official builds, websites, leaderboards, backend resources, anonymous-auth-backed features, in-app purchases, random avatar rolls, promo code redemption, ad-supported rewards, feedback channels, and official branding. They do not replace the GNU GPL v3.0 license that applies to official ChessIQ code distributed under that license.

Code and service are not the same thing. GPL 3.0 governs your rights in GPL-covered ChessIQ code. These terms govern the official service, infrastructure, moderation, purchases, published store disclosures, trademarks, and fair-play expectations around the official ChessIQ experience.

  • Puzzle Academy and other official leaderboards

  • Abusive or excessive automated traffic
  • Obscene or deceptive leaderboard names
  • Unauthorized use of QILA or ChessIQ branding
01

Scope and acceptance

These Terms apply to the official ChessIQ service operated by QILA Modus, including official app builds, official websites, official leaderboards, backend resources, updates, and official feedback or support channels.

By using the official ChessIQ service, you agree to these Terms. If you only receive source code or binaries distributed under GNU GPL v3.0, GPL v3.0 continues to govern your rights in that code.

02

GPL 3.0 and official app code

The official ChessIQ app code is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0. To the extent a software license is required for that code, GPL 3.0 functions as the governing software license instead of a separate end-user license agreement.

These Terms do not replace, reduce, or reinterpret rights granted to you under GPL 3.0 for GPL-covered code. If any part of these Terms conflicts with GPL 3.0 regarding GPL-covered code, GPL 3.0 controls for that code.

The official service, backend resources, moderation decisions, names, logos, and other brand assets are not made unrestricted merely because parts of the app code are distributed under GPL 3.0.

03

Official service and server usage

QILA Modus may operate server-based features for ChessIQ, including leaderboard syncing, anonymous-auth-backed backend features, content delivery, updates, diagnostics, security protections, and other hosted resources.

You may not use the official service in a way that damages, overloads, scrapes abusively, bypasses security, interferes with normal use, or consumes unreasonable server resources. QILA Modus may rate limit, suspend, or block abusive use to protect the service and other users.

04

Purchases, virtual items, promo codes, random rolls, and ads

The official ChessIQ service may include paid products such as coin packs, permanent unlocks, random avatar rolls, ad-supported rewards, and promotional code redemption features.

Product availability, localized pricing, promotions, odds disclosures, and reward values may change over time. Where a platform storefront such as the App Store or Google Play handles billing, payment, cancellation, and refund rules are also subject to that platform's terms and policies.

Where ChessIQ offers a random unlock or random avatar roll, the official app may disclose the relevant odds and pool rules in-product. Eligible pools may shrink as you unlock content, empty rarity buckets may be skipped automatically, and promo-only or otherwise ineligible content may be excluded from paid random-roll pools.

Virtual coins, unlocks, ad rewards, roll results, and promo benefits are part of the official service, have no cash value, and are not transferable between users except where the service expressly supports that behavior.

QILA Modus may refuse, cancel, reverse, or disable promo redemptions, rewards, purchases, or related entitlements obtained through fraud, abuse, duplicate claims, chargebacks, refund reversals, exploitation of bugs, or obvious technical misconfiguration.

05

Fair play and external services

ChessIQ is intended as a training, study, and analysis tool, including finished-game review, puzzles, opening study, and other legitimate practice use.

The official service is not offered as a cheating tool for live online play. You are solely responsible for complying with the rules, fair-play policies, and terms of third-party services such as Chess.com or Lichess.org, as well as any tournament or federation rules that apply to you.

QILA Modus accepts no responsibility for account penalties, rating consequences, match forfeits, bans, or other outcomes resulting from improper use of ChessIQ during live play or in breach of third-party rules.

QILA Modus refuses to add or maintain official features that facilitate cheating, including move automation, overlays, or similar unfair-play workflows.

06

Leaderboard names, profiles, and moderation

If you use the Puzzle Academy leaderboard or any other official ChessIQ leaderboard, you must choose a lawful and non-inappropriate nickname.

QILA Modus may edit, hide, reset, remove, or delete leaderboard entries, nicknames, or related profiles if a name is obscene, sexually explicit, hateful, harassing, threatening, defamatory, misleading, impersonating another person, illegal, or otherwise inappropriate.

Repeated or serious violations may lead to suspension or removal from official leaderboards or related service features. This moderation right exists to protect other players and maintain a serious competitive environment.

Deleting or moderating a leaderboard profile does not itself revoke platform-store purchases. Purchase ownership and restoration remain subject to the platform store account and the official service's entitlement rules.

07

Trademarks and official branding

ChessIQ, QILA, QILA Modus, and related names, logos, artwork, and branding are reserved for official use unless QILA Modus gives permission.

GPL 3.0 rights in the code do not grant the right to market a fork or modified version using official QILA Modus or ChessIQ branding in a way that suggests endorsement, origin, or official affiliation.

If you redistribute or modify GPL-covered code, you remain responsible for complying with GPL 3.0 and for avoiding misleading use of official marks.

08

Feedback, suggestions, and prohibited feature requests

Feedback and suggestion channels are provided for bug reports, product ideas, and legitimate improvements to ChessIQ.

QILA Modus may decline, ignore, or remove feature requests that conflict with fair play, platform rules, security, or legal obligations.

This includes requests for automation, covert overlays, real-time opponent assistance, or other features designed to support cheating or abusive conduct.

09

Availability, no warranty, and data loss

The official service may change, pause, or be discontinued. Features, leaderboards, or backend services may be unavailable from time to time.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the official service is provided "as is" and "as available". QILA Modus does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, perfect accuracy, or error-free operation.

QILA Modus is not responsible for loss of data, loss of rankings, lost opportunities, or service interruption arising from use of the official service.

10

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, QILA Modus is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages related to the official service.

This includes loss of data, device issues, business interruption, reputational harm, or consequences arising from misuse on third-party platforms, including suspension or bans.

11

Changes and contact

QILA Modus may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version published for the official service will apply going forward.

If you continue to use the official service after material updates are published, that continued use indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.
